Insatiable, Selfish, Meaningless

Introduction

Introduction

These are the three attributes of human instinct which define us. By understanding these we can have an extremely accurate understanding of who, what and where we are. The more we understand ourselves the more we understand each other, because we are essentially identical. Consequently, it is essential for the further evolution of civilization that we arrive at this new level of self understanding. I will in the following do my best to explain all the personal and social traits which arise as a result of these three Human instincts.

Every person you meet has an invisible structure defined by ISM.
Groups of Humans have ISM structures based on the ISM structures of the members.
I is variable, S is constant, M is variable. Variation in one causes the others to change.

A detailed description of how I, S, and M work together is provided in my book:
"The Final Thesis On Human Life"
(Book link at top)

All of the information related to sociology on the UCOM web site is the result of the author having discovered ISM twenty years ago. Which clearly illustrates how profound these three words are once you understand them thoroughly. With this precise definition of Human instinct (ISM) understanding our society comes intuitively.

How ISM Manifests Itself (Top)

These three constituents of Human Nature (ISM) don't usually manifest themselves as individual traits. They manifest themselves as one trait which is the result of the three interacting.

For example:

Humans are Insatiable, Selfish and Meaningless, but none of these individually will explain why Humans seek to dominate. Only by understanding that the pursuit of Meaning (to be appreciated, accepted, loved) is rendered forever incomplete by Insatiableness and rendered obsessive by Selfishness can we understand the desire to dominate.

Insatiableness (Top)

Insatiableness arises from familiarity and therefore depends upon a persons ability to remember. Should a person's ability to remember be extreme then the insatiableness of that person will manifest itself more profoundly. Should a person's ability to remember be trivial then the insatiableness of that person may be so slight as to be unrecognizable.

Insatiableness, therefore, can and does fluctuate in the Human personality.

How Insatiableness Manifests Itself

A high degree of insatiableness manifests itself by causing the person to be frequently bored. This can result in a person constantly changing the things around them, always seeking new things. It can also result in an entirely intellectual ebb and tide of change where the person keeps the mind constantly searching and changing while the body and the environment remain unnoticed and unchanging.

Selfishness (Top)

Selfishness arises from the relativity of all thought being centered on the source of the thought; self.

The symbols we use to think (words, images) can only be known by relating one to another and self is the origin of the necessity for partaking of any action. Consequently, Humans, and all other animals, are incapable of acting except that the action be selfish.

Selfishness, therefore, is complete and constant.

How Selfishness Manifests Itself

Selfishness manifests itself in every action of which Humans, and all other animals partake. If it were not for the seeking of self gratification or gain no action would be engaged. Therefore the manifestation of selfishness is everywhere around us all the time, in every action, for if there were no selfishness there would be no action. Just solving the basic pains of the body which are the need for food, water, shelter are selfish actions; after all we do not engage them for another. Even pity is "...the imagining of a like calamity befalling one self." - Thomas Hobbes, 1936 "Outline Of Great Books" Edited By J. A. Hammerton, Page 244.

Meaninglessness (Top)

Meaninglessness wakes up in the Human personality from our awareness of the absence of value attributable to existence. Awareness of it depends upon two factors.
  1. It depends upon the intelligence of the person. If the person has low intelligence they will be far less apt to question the value of life. If a person has high intelligence they would have questioned life's value at a young age.
  2. It depends on how well equipped one is socially, financially to escape the reality of it. This is true because the realization that one's life is meaningless acts as a pain to the mind.
Meaninglessness, therefore, not only fluctuates in the human personality but it does so to extreme extents and frequently with each passing moment.

How Meaninglessness Manifests Itself

All humans who arrive at the realization of meaninglessness start running from the knowledge as an instinct toward self preservation. I call the many channels Humans run through to escape this knowledge addictions, see television.

The Human emotions arise from this awareness of meaninglessness and like all the other addictions Humans utilize to escape the realization of meaninglessness there are those who become extremely addicted to emotions and escape quite well in them. If a person has a great deal of social and or financial resources they can effectively escape thinking about meaninglessness by compulsively engaging addictions such as social rituals, ceremonies. If a person has few resources they also can escape thinking about meaninglessness with the use of addictions of a less desirable variety such as drugs. The individual person's knowledge and circumstances will have dictated which path they have chosen to escape the truth of meaninglessness.

All that you see around you in civilization has resulted from these various paths. What is absolute is that if a person has become aware of meaninglessness they WILL RUN, the question is to where.

A complete explanation of the possibilities is beyond the scope of any book or even set of books. Look around you at our civilizations and all that they encompass, there is the scope of possibility, it confounds the imagination; and we haven't even seen civilization yet.

How ISM Will Improve People's Lives  (Top)

Nietzsche dreamed of a superman society where a handful of highly qualified individuals ruled over the masses by means of extreme intellectual capabilities. I dream of a superman society where all humans are supermen.

The leaders of the past (Productively Abnormal, Number Two, Citizens) reached extraordinary heights and achieved many great things for humanity by way of their more comprehensive knowledge of reality. In the future "ALL HUMANS" will have this more comprehensive knowledge of reality! UCOM is taking us one more step up the ladder towards this reality.

Insatiableness (Top)

Understanding and accepting the fact that we are Insatiable will allow us to take our personal lives to higher levels of anxiety without disrupting functionalism. When Insatiableness sets in as a result of having experienced much more than human's are presently capable of we will have implemented a perfect mechanism for solving it. This alone will so vastly increase each persons overall abilities that I'll guess each person will be capable of ten times more than what they are capable of today in every aspect of life from multitasking to general efficiency. Human progress on the planet Earth will experience an unprecedented high for the first time in history. You might think that living with more anxiety would be bad, something that you wouldn't want. You must remember that everything is relative. The scientists say that 80% of the human brain goes unused and I'm guessing the reason for this is that Humans are functioning far below optimal levels of anxiety. Anxiety is the impetus which drives us to action. Humans with low anxiety levels are low achievers and what is worse they still feel that their own personal anxiety level is too high. What this means is that the feeling of discomfort which arises from anxiety is relative to the level of anxiety that the human is accustom to living with. For example:

A man who has lived a nice, quiet, uneventful life in the suburbs going to his job, coming home and taking his family to dinner, sleeping and doing the same tomorrow for multiple years with occasional vacations or whatever "will still be operating at what appears to him to be the limit of his tolerance of daily stress, or anxiety". He may be at a traffic stop waiting for the light to change and see a broken bottle in the storm drain on the side of the road which completely disconcerts him as a result of people disregarding cleanliness in the community. This minuscule observation could theoretically upset such a man's day causing, with his current understanding, chaos which interrupts rather than enhances performance.

Now another man who lives with a much larger amount of anxiety on a daily basis in New York City is going about performing his job and duties just like the previous man, but he is accustom to a much higher level of stress because of where he lives, in a large city. This second man feels he is operating at the limit of his tolerance of daily stress, or anxiety. So he feels the same as the first man, although he is tolerating much more and he is accustom to this higher tolerance level which results in his discomfort level being higher than the first man yet his general health and happiness are the same, or better.

What this example shows is that humans are capable of much more than they are aware. If we allow ourselves to be in constant pursuit of repose and simplicity then we become weak and simple animals who have low tolerance and ability (a natural consequence). If we understand the benefits of increased anxiety which are higher levels of tolerance and a general increase in performance and we know what insatiableness is (a natural consequence of experiencing more and an intrinsic aspect of the human personality) we can not only exist at higher levels of anxiety but be much more alive, robust and healthy animals under higher levels of anxiety. Right now you may be sitting there at a desk with a pile of papers you need to review in front of you thinking nobody wants to have more stress. But someplace else a man is laying on a coach watching television and eating Fritos who jumps when he hears a door open because such a thing is at the peak of his tolerance for stress and anxiety. You will now agree that such a man could certainly be existing with a bit more stress, he just isn't aware of the fact because he doesn't try it. Now I'm telling you that the same thing applies to you.

Selfishness (Top)

Understanding and accepting the fact that we are Selfish will make us more efficient creatures by rendering us more self contained as units of a social system. Once Humans realize that each is the center of his/her own universe they will be much less inclined to languish in a welfare state of mind because they will know that maintaining life is their responsibility. The rejection of selfishness allows humans to pass the burdens of life onto others by claiming to be innocent and helpless. To know and accept selfishness is an affirmation of individuality. Henceforth we function as an organized group of individuals. Humans will always be separated from one another by the skin of their bodies because we are indeed "individual" organisms. But, we must understand ourselves to the extent that we can cooperate in perfect symphony with each other to achieve the further development of civilization.

Meaninglessness (Top)

Meaninglessness is a very special case in our considerations of how knowing ISM can improve a person's life. Primarily, accepting the reality of our meaninglessness will be an affirmation of life and a renunciation of death.

This is the result of the fact that humans come in two types.

1. Those who believe that their meaning in life is derived from some mystical divinity. (Those who readily accept some mystical divinity never question the meaning of their lives and this results in a weak and incomplete understanding of life.)
2. Those who strive, build and search for meaning in their lives. (Those who are uncertain about the meaning in life must struggle with the reality of meaninglessness and this always builds a stronger more complete understanding of life.)

The reality of Human existence is that we are meaningless creatures. If we ever hope to meet nature on her own ground it is a preliminary that we accept this reality. This reality stands above the truth that not having a ready made value source creates stronger more complete Humans. Therefore the chief improvement in our lives which will be achieved by accepting our meaninglessness is the elimination of chaotic thoughts and behavior which arise from an incomplete knowledge of the truth.

I'll guess that 50% of the confusion and injustice which exist in civilization are the direct result of some misinterpretation of "the meaning of life". Therefore improved clarity in this area should be of utmost importance to everyone. To be aware of meaninglessness you might think would act as a greater source of chaos and it is true, although, with a clearer understanding of the importance of meaning in our lives individuals and society can provide a much broader base of services to deal with the truth of human meaninglessness. For example: Rather than psychic palm readers on the corners of our cities telling the public anything they can imagine to make a little money, they could be providing far more functional solutions to the reasons why people visit such places and that is to "find the meaning in their lives". The "meaning in a person's life" should stand right beside "the need to eat and drink" in the minds of social service agencies and all those providing council to Humans.

As an addendum to the aforementioned all of the human emotions arise from the need for meaning in our lives. therefore a complete understanding of our meaninglessness should and does stand as a preliminary in providing services to people experiencing emotional problems. Understanding and accepting the fact that we are meaningless will allow humans to comprehend other humans and the tremendous diversity of human types which arise in nature and the necessity for and origin of this diversity.

We can not simply brush everything and everybody under the rug who experiences emotional problems, as society is currently trying to do. Churches and enough mother love - (two retrograde things, see Religion, and read Paul Olsen's book "Mothers and Sons") are not the answer either. The elitists of this over burdened by tyranny society have it in mind that "Excessive" and "unwarranted" self confidence, provided by "Mother" is the answer, but they are tangentially off basis (see The Petty Capitalist's Children. Excessive confidence to hide the truth of meaninglessness creates "MONSTERS" without human compassion or inherent, appropriately focused, ambitions. Both (religion and excessive confidence) provide not solutions but lies which are just a further contribution to the chaos. Many children and adults can easily see this truth which is why society can not find "answers" for making them "better". Using drugs like anti depressants, and other worthless remedies only confounds the problem by delaying it's incipience for a further date and destroying the citizenry (the source of all wealth).

How ISM Will Improve Society (Top)

The more we understand ourselves the more we understand our fellow Humans and extend our ability to cooperate. There is no better way of improving our civilization than to improve our level of cooperation because everything is founded on cooperation.

At present nearly all of the entropy (wasted time and energy) in civilization results from the multitude of misinterpretations entertained by the people. These misinterpretations are the results of philosophies which are incongruent with reality. Consequently, the great majority of the people "can not draw accurate conclusions" and the small minority are drawing conclusions based on "intuitions" which more closely approach reality, but still are not precise as they are not strictly defined.

Asian civilization falls in this category in that the Asian people live by a more realistic, all inclusive, philosophy than any other group of Humans on this planet yet they do not know the precise definition of why or how, nor do they precisely understand the constitution of the Human personality (ISM). Sometimes you can get very close to the truth and still never touch it. Someplace in the history of Asia one or more, probably incremental, of it's Productively Abnormal, Number Two, Citizens elevated the entire population of Asia with the precision of his philosophy to a level that till this day is not understood but has set Asians above every other race of Humans on the planet in cooperative ability and consequently, productivity. Some of this also stems from uniform appearance (looks), but which came first the uniform appearance or the philosophy? It may be that the philosophy enabled the unification of appearance.

In other words; If you start out building a brick wall with broken and chipped bricks by the time you get half way through it will not be much of a wall. Similarly, the creations of people, in their personal lives and in the overall society, are only as good as the tools they used to create them, which are all based on the accuracy of their comprehension as it pertains to first themselves and then expands to a point of all inclusion.

Once the people are made aware of ISM and what we are becomes an accepted part of social life nearly all of the entropy which presently exists in civilization will begin to vanish. People will start dropping behaviors, activities which they can now readily see are inappropriate, and or non functional. They will start synchronizing themselves with one another. It will allow the people to guide themselves with such great precision that eventually it will result in a complete lack of leadership (Number Two and Number Three Citizens) as leadership will no longer be necessary. The improvements in the overall society will be countless and immeasurable as every person will have become a social architect by virtue of their clarity of vision and it's impact on everything they touch, see, smell, taste and hear.

ISM is just the most basic "TRUTH" of humanity. "NOTHING" above it can be accurate without this piece in place. Therefore it is the starting point of a tremendous mountain of transformations which will begin after it has been instituted.
