The source of the depression is a lack of synchronization between truth (what the children are seeing) and the lies and contradictions inherent in society which are the result of the structure and philosophy of society being out of synchronization with reality.

In case you didn't know: serotonin is a serious, central nervous system, neurotransmitter. It is by it's interference with serotonin that Lysergic Acid Diethyl Amide (LSD - acid) causes it's characteristic hallucinations LSD and Serotonin. And these fools are giving this to people's children. They might as well run their arms and legs through a meat grinder to improve their strength, it's Insanity!

I remember reading on the Microsoft web site about how they sold more than a million copies of visual basic version six. The Human mind is a computational device and everyone uses theirs to solve their daily problems in life. What this means is that any extension to that computational ability can only aid people in their daily lives. Consequently, every Human being alive could benefit from being able to use and program computers to some extent. But Microsoft corporation is congratulating itself for having sold a million copies when the population of the Earth is five billion. It indicates that billions of people are being "over looked", "left behind" and insanity is developing amongst the "in caste" in every dynasty as they blindly chase "their goal, their way" having completely lost sight of "all else". Skins? And visualizations for windows media play? How many years have they, the best minds in their industry, spent on this trash while billions live without electricity?

A solitary man living in the mountains starts to lose his conception of human civilization. He starts having dreams of gods and heaven and super natural things of various types. After several years without contact with Human civilization the man begins talking to himself about the gods that he imagines are all around him. 

Anyone with clear vision can see that this man is becoming insane as a result of his solitude.

The modern, educated, middle class having completely secured their way of life into an impenetrable caste start losing their conception of the misery that nearly everybody else lives with in human civilization. They start creating products, literature, resorts, and technologies for themselves, as they are the only ones who can afford such things. They completely lose touch with the predominant condition of humanity on earth as they delve ever deeper into "their technology" and "their way of life". After several decades of being almost completely sealed off from the bulk of humanity by security devices, and knowledge that only they possess, they loll around half alive, half aware, and even less concerned in highly discrete resorts and fashionable clubs congratulating themselves for the fine jobs that they are doing for themselves.

Anyone with clear vision can see that these modern, educated, middle caste citizens are becoming insane as a result of their solitude.

It's time to STOP research and development and START leveling the playing field. To hell with technology if the people can't use it. They want to use the people's money to create technology for themselves.

1. Religion: Which frequently teaches people to deny aspects of Human instinct, like Selfishness. When religious people carry out their daily lives one frequently observes contradictions in their motives which arise from this denial. See Are you living in a cloud of conflicting thoughts.
2. Wealth: Possessing excessive quantities of wealth leaves those who are in possession of it in a high degree of isolation. This is true because the more money you have the more needy everybody around you seems. This results in the wealthy person sensing that they are "different from others". They certainly don't want to give up their money to "be on your level" so what results is a sort of dual reality. One reality for "the help" and another reality for "their kind". When "the help" is around they work like the juggler to show only the side of things that they want "the help" to see. When they are in the company of their own kind they show the other side of their thoughts. This doesn't wear so badly on the admittedly selfish and greedy rich, but on those who are trying to pretend that they are "good citizens" it manifests itself quite clearly because they convince themselves that they are unselfish and kind while at the same time they can not give anything to "the help". This results in a fantasy like reality forming in their minds where some people can be rich and greedy and others can be poor and needy and everything is "just fine".

Most types of insanity are attempts by the Human brain to create a pseudo reality which compensates for all the contradictions in the absolute reality of universal law and the particular stage in evolution within which Humans presently exist. Or in more simple terms: when reality gets ugly people get creative, although ill equipped to draw accurate conclusions.

Thus the prevalence of insanity, mild to extreme cases, is a function of the gap which exists between the people's philosophy, education, way of life and the mode, means of production. Here, again, all indications, the chart above, point to an unhealthy gap between the people and the mode of production which is manifesting itself in numerous mild cases of insanity.
